The Primals Project

The Primals Project

The Primals Project, based at the University of Pennsylvania’s Positive Psychology Center, promotes empirical research on the origins and psychological impact of primal world beliefs. We also seek to communicate important empirical findings to the public.

The project is led by Dr. Jer Clifton. Steering Committee Members are Dr. Martin Seligman, Dr. Crystal Park, and Dr. Alia Crum. Research Scientist Dr. Nick Kerry drives our central research projects. Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Wayne Johnson leads research at the confluence of primal world beliefs and AI, and Postdoctoral Research Partner Dr. Mustafa Subasi leads cross cultural research. Research Manager Abigail Wheeler coordinates all Primals Project activities and the emerging network of primals researchers around the globe.
